Power Supply Unit (PSU) Power Supply Units are used to supply power to the computer base unit. The PSU has many cables, that are attatched, which plug directly into the Motherboard, Hard Drives, CD/DVD ROM Drives etc. and powers them directly. Through powering the Motherboard the PSU will power all peripherals that are attatched to the Motherboard that do not have an independant power feed from the PSU. The PSU would be attatched within the Computer Case with the cables pointing inward, for the PC peripherals, and the Socket, for the Power Cable attatchment, pointing outwards. PSU's can come in different power wattages and it would be advisable to seek advice before buying a PSU for your computer. |
